Sound recorder apk?

I was going through my system files and noticed there is what looks like a native sound recorder apk on my phone. i had a droid1 rooted and pete with buggless beast was able to get this app on my original droid and i liked it. i've tried to install it every way i can think of but it is still not working. anyone have any idea? i am rooted.

i second this ... i know the d2g comes with a sound recorder but no idea on how to get it running ...
