OK, so I am driving from LA to San Diego and I am using GPS and talking on the phone etc. Again, the data connection drops, almost as soon as I lose the data, I also lose the GPS. Happens 3-4 times.
To get the data back, I turn on WiFi, wait until it scans and finds something, then turn it off again. Seems to quite often spur data into action. The weird thing is, once data comes back, GPS comes back too. Now I know that GPS (more specifically aGPS) may use data to triangulate roughly where you are based on cell towers but I thought that it would wprk off the GPS satellites and not depend on a data connection.
Can anyone explain this?
Anyone successfully jump started data through WiFi on/off?
