Soft keys and Keyboard illumination issues

After the recent update I noticed that my soft keys do not light up once I wake up the phone. Both the physical keyboard and the soft keys dont light up. I can only get them to come back by hitting the power button to turn the screen off and on a few times.

Any ideas why?
