So, how is the cell signal performing after some time?

Well, I know the big issue has been whether it's just a battery indicator issue or if there really is a big discrepancy between the INC and moto when it comes to signal. Well I hadn't really noticed anything before b/c even when there was only one bar it was still more clear then the Moto with full bars.

But today I lost a total of 3 calls while at my desk at work. My voyager had this problem every great once in awhile, but the 25 days or so i had the Moto i never had this problem, let alone 3 times in one day. I received a call saying the signal faded and call was lost or something to that affect.

So, what have been your experiences?

havent dropped a call yet ( had DI since the 29th )

my max bars were 2 till today. i went to walmart, its about 2miles from my house, and i went to turn on pandora when i got in the parking lot and saw i had 4bars. i checked my signal and it said 72db ( might of been 77 )

first time i ever seen it go that far up lol.

either way though ive had perfect reception and have not dropped any calls.

good luck

No drops here either - it's better than my old LG Chocolate, my old Blackberry Storm, and just as good if not better than my Storm with a hybrid VZW/Alltel PRL on the phone which did improve it a good bit.

And that's not just voice that's great for me, it's data as well. Everything about this phone is fast (including the battery drain, haha, jk - battery life is better now than when I first got it, just had to take the pot shot at it).

For me, I can't go quite as deep into buildings and complete calls or use 3G as before but its close.

However the voice quality is absolutely amazing and worth the trade anyday!

The phone sounds good even with voice privacy activated and possibly more solid and pure without it activated... but thats hard to tell since good is good and its hard to tell when good becomes perfect.

I am up to 3 bars now after having none or 1 bar. But the 3G symbol goes dark after it check for emails and stuff. On the storm 2, the 3G symbol was always on until it drop to 1X. Go figure. It has been said in other forums that it gets better over time.

Mine shows 2 bars... but it probrably should as I'm not in town but rather off in a small rural town.

Comparing what the bars show with a different manufacturer "Motorolla vs. HTC". is dicey to expect there is supposed to be a "standard" per se to go by.

Again, I compare this to the gas guage... they are not all created equal..... just learn how yours behaves and there you have it.

If its calibrated to show 4 bars while they guy standing next to you is showing two.. means little or nothing... the guy with 2 bars may actually get better reception as the guage is just a dummy readout that hopefully reflects a reasonable feedback of your signal.

If you go to one bar and then below that your signal starts dropping, your probably calibrated well.

But to say your HTC has 2 bars and your moto had 3 means very little.

If I had a Honda car with 5 gallons left in the tank, I'm sure it would read different than a toyota with 5 gallons left in the tank..... same with battery meters.

While I do think the Moto has a slight edge on reception, what the signal bar reads is dependent upon how the manufacturer set them up or calibrated them...

There are no db readings.. but simply bars.... my phone could be better reception than another while showing less bars.

I've just realized over the last couple of days that the reception on the Incredible isn't good enough. *sigh*

I created a thread to ***** about it here -
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...-htc-incredible-bad-reception.html#post465327

Basically, my old Samsung Gleam (not a bad phone, but not known for it's reception) lets me call my voicemail and listen to messages without "dropouts", whereas my incredible does not (tested back to back).

I'm disappointed, to say the least. :-(

P.S. I think it's clear from my post but I just wanted to be clear - I'm not talking about "bars", I am talking about my actual ability to hear every word the person on the other end is saying.

The bars do not even consistently correlate to high or low reception of dBm signal. I have seen -64db for a two bar signal and a four bar. Also seen the opposite correlation. Seems the only time the bars are correct to some degree are when at 1X.

Kentucky is probably one of the more reception challenged areas and I have not lost a signal yet, and the weakest signal noticed, was -94db. With Tmo, I lost signal in many areas. No dropped calls and no voice issues as *sigh* articulates.

Incredible also has a pretty good wifi radio (much better than N900 or G1, at least).

and I have not lost a signal yet

I suspect the Incredible has taken the approach of holding onto the call, even when the other person's voice is regularly dropping in and out, longer than other phones that would have dropped the call by that point. It doesn't drop the call, but it doesn't actually let you make a useful call either.
