Slow & inaccurate screen while plugged in

When I have my phone plugged in via the usb cord to my computer, NOT the wall charger, the screen becomes practically impossible to use and navigate. If the phone isnt already past the lock screen, I will not be able to get in because when in put my connect the dot design, my phone completely gets it wrong. the design i physically draw is not what the phone sees and shows.
