Setcpu battery questions

Hello I just recently rooted my phone for the first time to take advantage of some of the cool things you can do, i also downloaded the set cpu beacuse ive been reading about poeple getting extended battery life, i also have the extended battery but this app seems to be killing my battery life, my setting on it are

Main screen
Max1000 mhz
Min 300 mhz
set on boot checked

profiles screen off
priority 93% min 300 for man and min
battery under 36% 300 for max and min

does anyone use this app and have way better results? can you please post your settings and could you explain this app?
