Selecting Multiple songs for a new playlist

I have the Droid X2 with the most recent update. I have over 10,000 songs on my phone and want to go through and select multiple songs for a new playlist but for some reason, I have no option for "Select Multiple" ideas? Cause I'm not going to troll through 10k songs to make one playlist

I have...HAD several playlists and I added more music and ALL of the music disappeared from ALL of my play lists. The playlists are still listed but all the songs listed disappeared. Have either of you had that problem?

If so, were you able to solve it?
