Screen Unlock Issue

When I am in any app and the screen times out, I press the menu key and swipe the screen to unlock. After this, instead of going to the app I was in, the phone minimizes the app I was in and goes to the home screen. My last S3 always went to the App that I was in when the screen timed out. Any suggestions? I cannot find any settings that would affect this.
