Screen flickers/fades

The screen on my 2 year old Droid X was flickering and fading so I just replaced the digitizer. Turned the phone on and it's still doing it so it must be something else.

Anybody have any idea what else I can replace? This isn't my primary phone but I'd hate to throw it out if I can fix it.

the digitizer controls the touch part of the screen
the LCD controls the backlight and color, replace the LCD
