[Rumor] Verizon is Testing a Bloatware Removal Feature on Some LG G3 Phones

Just as people are starting to get fired up about Verizon putting the throttle-hammer down on 4G LTE Unlimited Data Plans, another rumor might assuage some of that frustration. According to the latest scuttlebutt, Big Red might actually be considering allowing a majority of bloatware to be removed from their devices.

Supposedly they are testing it out with a select few LG G3 smartphones, and they will be including a tool which will let users completely remove most of the pre-installed apps after the initial setup process has finished. For now, this will apply to specific pre-installed apps, but won't work on Verizon's own app suite yet. Here's a quote with more of the details,

“Verizon is trialing a new service on the LG G3. Pre-loaded applications will install in the background during the activation and set up process. Once setup is complete, the applications will appear in the applications folder as though they have been traditionally pre-loaded. However, there IS one key difference; the applications can be completely and entirely uninstalled by the customer via the standard uninstall process. Customers will not incur any data usage or charges for the download and installation of these applications."

The Verizon suite also would be neat. With no amazon and Verizon apps, my tray would be empty.
