[RUMOR] Verizon Delays Release of the Droid RAZR HD

As found on the site easternmorningherald.com, Verizon Wireless is said to be delaying the release of their flagship Droid branded phone until after the release of the Samsung Galaxy S3. They were slated to be released around the same time, but it seems they are again worried about the SGS3 stealing some thunder?

From the article:

Of course, “sooner than expected” could mean one week before the tentative release date, or even one day before. It could mean anything, really. But it’s as clear as day – Verizon apparently doesn’t want the launch of the touted Motorola handset to coincide with that of the Galaxy S3. It’s actually a prudent choice on Verizon’s part, as Motorola had said as much as not wanting to take the Galaxy S3 head-on.
The Droid RAZR HD boasts of some impressive specs including a 4.6-inch HD display, Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, a dual-core processor, 3300 mAh battery (same as that on the Droid RAZR Maxx) and an impressive 13-megapixel rear camera.​

Plausible, but if they do not release official information soon, they will lose sales to the gs3 anyway (especially with people wanting to lock in unlimited data.)

I'm voting for next Thursday. Seriously though I'm hoping for sooner than later. I want a new toy, and if they do push it to the end of the summer, I'm gonna be bummed... idk how I'll drown my sorrow. Lol

I think that is what Motorola wants to do. let the hype for the gs3 die down because we know how the Android community is. Everyone gets hype over the latest hot device, then they get bored and move on to the next big thing. And the window will be slim between the gs3 hype and the iPhone 5. Then you have your winter lineup which will probably the Droid 5 and the Samsung note.

Makes sense to me. The Galaxy name exploded here in the states when the GS2 launched. I think vzw got some slack for not having a GS2 (even though I think the GNEX was more than an adequate replacement).

It's never a good idea to have two flagship products launch close to each other.

Well, I'm pretty sure I'm finished with moto and want the GS3 however... I'll have to play with them to really know... guess I'll just be waiting longer is all.

I guess it's a good move by Motorola and Verizon. The GS3 is the biggest Android smartphone release of the year. They'd definitely get overshadowed.

The GS3 is expected to sell more than the S2 and I'm sure you guys know how many of those they sold worldwide. :cool-b:

im sure its true due to the fact verizon probably saw a great deal of pre orders for the GS3 and thought it would not be a good time to release the razr hd since everyone is buying the GS3 so lets wait a bit and then release it so it doesnt fail.

Two thoughts:
1) This phone has never had a "release date", not even a rumored one, so I don't see how it can possibly be "delayed".
2) Motorola must know that they have many customers who are trying to decide between the Razr HD and the SGS3. They should throw those folks some kind of a bone. A pre-order website, a release date...something! How many people would pass up the SGS3 if they had a solid release date--or even confirmed specs--for the Razr HD? I would...but I don't want to wait all summer. Never mind the unlimited data tango...just tell me when I can expect to see this still-mythical Razr HD!

Let them release it closer to the schools coming back in as i'm sure many folks will want phones, or get phones, to off to school. Plus, it shoudl still be fresh for the holiday season.

Utter Hogwash

There is absolutely no validity to this story.

The Droid Razr HD was/is on schedule for a late Summer release (see my twitter timeline for more accurate info). It may possibly be delayed beyond this time frame but that delay will have nothing to do with any other device but other factors I'm not going to discuss here in the open.

I hate B.S. news stories on an as yet unannounced device especially when they claim its delayed.

Same here! Moto we want some info! Does it have 2GB of RAM? Does the camera have a bsi cmos sensor (Please for once Moto)? Does it have the MSM8960 Pro (Adreno 320!!!)? Will it do my laundry!?!??! I'm expecting MicroSDXC and MicroHDMI!!!
