Rooting the Razr Maxx HD

I was just wondering if I can root my new phone when getting it in two weeks just like I did my Droid X. Is it necessary?

Mine is rooted and running leaked JellyBean update for about a month now. Root is necessary in order to install AOSP gallery app (the moto gallery app sucks but it can be disabled). Root is also necessary if you want to install adaway which acts like adblock for the whole system including the web browsers. Just make sure you add amazon.com in the white list or the Amazon app store will not work.
