Rooted or not is there a way to tell?

Thats the question can you tell if your phone is rooted or not. I have read (on these forums) of a person taking there phone in for service and the Verizon rep told him his phone was rooted and was no longer in waranty.

This is a consern for my brother (his phone is rooted) and I would assume others as well. Is there an easy way to tell if your phone has been rooted. How would Verizon detect it?

This is how to tell for sure:

1. Download a terminal application from the market (there are plenty of free ones).
2. Start the terminal application
3. Type su and hit enter
If you get a permission denied then your phone is not rooted. This is also a way to show Verizon that your phone is not rooted if they tell you otherwise.

very good info :)

Now if you have a rooted phone and want to un-root it (wow is that even a word LMAO) is there a way?
