Is anyone else having problems with the wifi tether app after upgrade? Can anyone point me in the right direction to correct this or any idea of another wireless tether app for root?
There isn't much to go wrong in the root process, now the ROM is a whole different story. I don't bother with those but if you do it will be at your own risk because there are no fastboot files yet that I am aware of. His utility does have an option to unbrick an ICS .211, but I am not sure what cases that covers.

First off welcome to the forums. Just as an FYI though it is better and more polite to start your own thread for something that is unrelated to what the OP was initially talking about.
As for the problems with the WIFI tether app, that is a known issue that ICS broke. People are still having some good experiences with FoxFi though, more information can be found in the Hacks section of this Razr Forum.
I rooted my Droid razor max and a new software update started an automatic download for ice cream sandwich, it failed to download because of the root. Now it won't download at all I've removed the root and tried again but still won't work. Any ideas as to how I get the update now

You can try FoxFi as Sydman said, or you can hack the built in hotspot app fairly easily. Go to the market and search for SQLite Editor. Its like 2.99 but what your doing can be done in a couple minutes then you could theoretically do a refund. But get the app, open it up. Superuser is going to ask for permission, click allow. Now its going to load like 500+ items. Let it do its thing. Once its done, scroll down to "Settings Storage". There are 2 of them and you want the one with the hammer and wrench. Click that and now click on settings.db, then settings. Now go down to item #150, "Entitlement Check". Next to it you will see a "1". Long press on that field and and click "Edit Field". Change the "1" to a "0" and then click save. Now exit and reboot. After your back up and running go to your mobile hotspot app and click "Turn on Mobile Hotspot". Voila, tethering restored!
