how do you do the screenshots i downloaded a couple screen shot apps but it says i have to get root privileges to use the apps and i have no idea??

to gain root privileges you must root or jailbreak your phone.

If you don't want to root your phone to take screencaps, How to take screenshots of your Android based phone from Windows – Simple Help <-- something like that will do it. That guide is a little old, but same basic steps even though things look a little different now. Also, same basic steps should work on other operating systems as well.
