Root my DROID X2?

So I finally got my first smartphone and I love it! So much better than anything I had ever had. For some reason my music always stops playing after a few minutes. Also I do notice some lag


I can live with this stuff but im very tempted by the speed I have heard of in a rooted phone with gingerbreak and some supercharger program. What do y'all think I should do. Is it hard to not brick my phone when I root it?

You Won't Brick By Rooting. You "Can" Brick When Flashing A ROM Or Theme.
