Ringtone question

I see the ringtones listed in MY music. How do I get them to become ringtones on phone? I cant pick the one for my wife I want. But I can play it when in MY music

As I look I see 2 that carried over I can choose but not the others.

You can also long press on the song in My Music and select Make Ringtone.

What I want to know is how to make a notification ringtone without a third party app. Even after I Make Ringtone in the player, I only see the sound in my ringtones list, not notifications.

I don't know how to do it without an app, but Ringdroid is free and does exactly what you want.

Another question. Can I customize my notification ring tone by person. Say have a certain one ring when I get say wifes text?

You can customize the ringtone per person by going into your contacts and setting the ringtone for that contact.
