Ringtone Malfunction?

This is probably a stupid noob question, but I have it none the less.

I have the HTC Inc. When its plugged in and someone calls me or I get a text, it is a different ringtone and notification sound from the ones I set. Is this normal because of the USB/DATA connected to the computer?

So many views and not a single answer. Odd.

This is still randomly happening. Now it's not even when I plug my phone in to charge.
Seems like the ringtones change on their own.

This happens because when your phone is plugged in and the sdcard is loaded, the phone cannot access the sdcard. So if your ringtone is on your sdcard, when you get a call, it cant access it. Thus it defaults to something else. I'm not sure how to choose what it defaults to.

Any idea why it keeps randomly changing while it's not plugged in though?

That I'm not sure about. I would try a reboot and/or battery pull.
