I understand the importance of being able to playback your videos with superior sound. The concern you are experiencing is due to the Noise Cancellation software being enabled while the device is recording. Due to this, the sound that you hear is that from the microphone on the bottom of the device. You could try third party applications from the Android market. I do apologize for any inconvenience taht you may have experienced.

So can anyone suggest a 3rd party app to use???

This poor audio recording when doing video is a major oops in my book. Developers obviously not living in the real world. If ya look around the inter-tubes you can see that video recording is one of the major uses of cell phones. This should just work. Properly. Period. .

That may or may not be sarcastic but I could see where this could work. The 2 mics are setup so sound coning from any other place than the mouth of the person on the phone is cancelled out. Works good on the phone but poor for video. Stopping one of the mics could fix this to a degree.

Actually covered up the bottom mic with my finger... And sound did improve somewhat...

Wow i hadnt even recorded a video yet until i read this and your totally right... The sound quality is absolutely pathetic, i literally recorded myself speaking loud and clearly and i could barely even hear it without putting my ear near the speaker in the back...Thats just ridiculous... Do you think its something they can fix with an update?

Has anyone found a replacement on the market until maybe a fix is in order?

Qik seems to have decent audio, but I think the video quality isn't as nice. Useable in a pinch, but I'd rather have the better video from the stock Camcorder app.

If any Rep. actually said that he was really trying to say: "This phone is not ready yet. Please look for a third party to bail us out while we work on this OBVIOUS oversight on our part.

By the way, ignore the gawd awful battery on our not ready for primetime 4G network.

Shameful.

I think it's likely this is just the noise suppression doing what it's supposed to do, at a time when we wouldn't want it doing it. Perhaps some of the kernel devs over at xda can peek at the audio driver to see how to disable this on video captures.
