Remove old apps from update list in Market?

I have an app or two I've installed for which the developers have ceased updating their app or they've been removed from the Market for whatever reason yet the app and the Market have tagged it as needing an update (I was lazy about updating them in the past and they've disappeared from the market in the mean time)

When I open the Market to update all other apps, those old apps are still listed as needing an update yet the market reports:

Not Found
The requested item could not be found.

So, how do I remove them from the list of updates while keeping the app installed?

Or is that just not possible and the only solution is to remove the app? I don't want to do that since the apps are worth keeping. It's not a total hardship to see them listed though it's a minor annoyance.

Thanks,

Kevin
