Reading photos from Network Attached Storage

I just purchased a hard drive to hook up to my home network. The idea behind it was to load the several thousand pictures in my library on the NAS, then be able to access them from any computer in the house. It works fine on computers, but when I look at them on my Droid X, they come up as thumbnails only. Same deal if I save a picture from my phone to the NAS, then try to read it again. I'm suspecting that the phone is trying to save bandwidth and not reading the full picture. Any ideas on how to overide that?
