smalltowngirl13 hit the nail on the head...you really should have a pretty good understanding of what you want to accomplish before you root. But, most importantly, if something goes wrong do you understand how to recover? This forum has a lot of users who are "wizzards" when it comes to root and are more than glad to help when someone is having a problem. I think the key is know enough about what you're doing that you don't get into problems that you cannot recover from. Also, understand the "lingo". Wizzards use terminology and lingo that new users just don't have a clue or understanding of. And, the different apps used to backup, sbf, flash, recover, root, unroot etc can be confusing. A good understanding of the "lingo" and the apps is a big help...particularly if something went wrong.
Well, I wouldn't worry about the update at this point. If you're rooted and deleted...not moved or renamed...a bunch of files you'll probably not be able to install the update when it comes out anyway...not until we figure out what you deleted. For information: Rule number one of root....DO NOT DELETE FILES. Freeze them, move them, or rename them. When an update comes out you will most likely have to unfreeze, rename back to stock, replace moved files and unroot before you can successfully download and install the update.
Well, here's what I recommend...I'm not a expert on root, but I'd go next door to the Razr Hack section and state your problem. A lot of users who are "wizzards" with these sort of things hang out there and will probably be able to get you help the fastest.
