Random Restarts

For the past few months my phone will restart whenever I connect to the internet using 3g and actively use the internet (i.e. download e-mails or view websites with more than just text). Recently the phone has even started doing this while connected to Wi-Fi. These restarts are more than annoying as they typically cycle until I am forced to pull the battery.

I am 100% certain that this is not software related, I was having problems with the stock phone and am now having problems with my rooted phone. The only physical signs that the phone is about to reboot is that the back is slightly warm, but this could be due to the rebooting process.

Is this happening to anybody else? I've read various forums but nobody has been able to pinpoint a cause or a solution other than to get a new phone from Verizon, which is out of the question since I have rooted my phone. Any help at all would be appreciated.

It could also be that the battery is starting to go bad. Do you have another battery to try out?

I don't have another battery, but I might purchase a new one. If it doesn't work I can always return it.

I think this might make sense, if the battery can't supply enough power for a second the phone might restart. Correct me if I'm wrong, but plugging in the phone won't help as there is no power override, like in a laptop which can run on an outlet with no battery connected.

Thanks for your thought.

It turns out that the battery is not the issue, I purchased a new battery and the same problems are still happening. My solution is to unroot the phone and bring it back into Verizon.

Please let me know how that goes, I'm headed to Verizon right now too - gotta find out if me and the DIC can still hang out. It has been giving me the reboot loop of death everytime we see each other for the past two days!!

ARGGHH!

I went to the Verizon store, was able to demonstrate the restarts (like I said I have pinpointed the problem) and will receive a new phone tomorrow. The directions I followed to unroot my phone are located here:

ok ive had this issue for 3 months now and i think I figured out a way to fix it. Remove the SD card. Use your internal storage for pics, videos, etc. I've tried multiple SD cards and they all make me overheat (go over 40c) in 3G with moderate to "heavy" use (google maps, videos, market downloads). With no sd card I stay under 35C with heavy use.
