Quick Question

So I'm a little pissed. Last Friday Amazon offers the Razr for $111.11, which was cool. However they now offer it for $199.99 plus a $100 gift card with a data plan that includes the mobile hot spot. Nice deal to be honest.

Saturday night I went and bought the new Razr at my local Verizon store. A week before I had just switched from AT&T to Verizon and had the Bionic. I took the Bionic back to get the Razr on Saturday having no clue about the deal on Amazon. At my local store it was $299 plus tax.

Last night I tried to add a line to my current account on Amazon to buy the Razr at the $199 price and get the gift card, but it wouldn't let me do it. I called Amazon and they said I needed to cancel my current account with Verizon and then I could buy the Razr through them and get the better price. Sure I could do that as my 14 days end tomorrow so I could take the Razr I have now back, cancel the service, and then just do it all over again through Amazon. However they then proceed to tell me I had to wait 50 days from canceling my service with Verizon to apply again. So I called Verizon and they said you could cancel current service tonight and apply for new service tomorrow through Amazon and it would be fine.

So what the hell? Amazon tells me one thing. Verizon tells me another. Also, I'd like to return the phone and cancel service and get all new service so that way I'd have till the end of December to switch phones again without penalty if I end up liking the new Samsung Galaxy. Verizon just changed their policy that any phones and service purchased on and after November 15th would have a return policy till December 31st. So that would be give me plenty of time for the Galaxy to come out.

Any thoughts on what I can or should do?

Wish i could help, but seems like a gamble either way. :-( . Amazon is good, but if they decide not to allow you to do it, it is their call. Verizon has fed me some misinformation before, so i would take what they said 'with a grain of salt' and try to talk to amazon again to see if someone can bypass the ''50 day waiting period". (I was told the RAZR had a bulletproof screen and back from VZW...LMAO)

Ive been on vzw for years, and see these deals for 'new customers only' all the time. I do feel like we are overcharged to subsizdize their new customer incentives. LOL

Be careful with buying phones off anyone other than the phone carrier...if you have to terminate your contract for any reason you have Amazon's 181 days in service fee plus Verizon's termination fee...that would be around $600 in total fees. Alot of people dont realize Amazon has their own set of termination fees.

One other thing you might want to consider. If you are on an unlimited internet account you will be on a limited one if you drop and resign. You didn't mention this, so I just wanted to throw it in.
