Questions about Root and Droid X

I have had my droid 1 rooted since it could first be rooted and you had to do it with adb. I am now switching to a droid x and wanted to know how far along rooting and things are. I am looking to root and use setcpu? If we root a droid x will setcpu work with it. I just want to set it to underclock when off to maximize battery life.

Also how are the 2.2 roms? Stable? no problems? which is the most stable fo them all?

I'd like to know that same....I tried out my friends new Droid X and put launcher pro on it for him and added Spart Parts from the market to change his animations to the fast settings. It's BLAZING fast compared to my rooted Droid 1.
I seen on Unlockr a way to root the X and it seems prety easy....wonder how it really works??
