Question mark when charging battery.

what does this mean. Is it the battery or the electronics inside? I dropped it into a pool but it charged a few times after before the question mark appeared. Can someone help me?

Question mark means the phone doesn't like the battery, either because it thinks the battery is not compatible, or because it believes the battery it's defective. The swim may have damaged the battery or the charging system.
