my droid razr died while i was at work and i came home and tried to charge it and when plugged in all i get is a question mark in my battery symbol and it wont go away i tried the soft reset and it just keeps coming up with that question mark

Dear Misphit, that question mark is saying it doesn't recognize the battery as being a true Motorola battery, or that it has reached a point at which it will no longer take a charge. The phone has circuitry built in which is intended to prevent using third party batteries or batteries that don't meet manufacturer's specifications. The claim is to prevent using a battery which may damage the phone. More likely it's to keep people buying the OEM batteries and protect profits.

Your only options are to try that battery in another Droid to see if it also responds with the ?, or purchase a new battery (which will likely fix the issues). Good luck!
