Question about installing Jellybean on my Droid 3 XT862

I looked but couldn't find the answer online so here I am. I have rooted my Droid 3 XT862, have installed root manager, have superuser working, clockwork mod, copied Jellybean AOKP and Google Aps to my sd card. My worry is this, if I try to install the zip files before wiping the data from my phone, I get a message that the files are not right. My question is this, is this normal if I don't wipe the factory setting of, and if I do, will it then install the new rom? Thanks in advance for the answer to this.

OK, what's going on, either no one has every updated a Droid 3 to jellybean, which I can't believe, or they are too busy to answer my one question. Help would be most welcome.

I must have posted this in the no help forum. Perhaps, I should have asked a simple question, like how to replace a battery. No help, going to another site where I might get help.

Thanks
