[PSA] Note 3 OTA Update is Coming...

Just a Heads Up, there is an Update that is coming. This is NOT THE KITKAT 4.4 OTA that is due to hit in January as Sources have been saying. This update is a small 30MB file build number N900XXUCMK2 that is about 30MB's that is suppose to be a stability update. None the less for those that have Root, I would still recommend protecting Root, in which case I suggest reading this thread if you haven't done so already.

Just checked my Note 3 (Verizon, Calif.) Says that I received this update approximately 20 minutes ago. Funny thing is, never noticed any indication that my phone was receiving an update.

Ignore my prior. Updates showed something was pushed to my phone but doesn't match the build number referenced in the article.

Do you have something different that was pushed to your device?

Don't know. Pushed updates and got a message that I've never seen before consisting of a form with various entries indicating that my phone had been updated at 7:24 (or some similar time.) But the date was Dec 6-as in tomarrow. Didn't take a screen shot. Disappeared when I pushed the update button again and got the usual message that my phone was up to date. Totally confused but I know I've never seen that verbiage before when checking for updates.

Take a screen shot of your "About phone" in your Settings menu, what we really want to see is if anything is different in there. Who knows it may be the same Build number and a different SELinux status, could be something or nothing....

Good it appears the "Update" did not go through.

PLEASE, EVERYONE ON VERIZON (with ROOT & SAFESTRAP RECOVERY ONLY) DO NOT TAKE THIS UPDATE. THE UPDATE DOES NOT IMPROVE STABILITY THAT IS PURE BS... THE UPDATE WILL STRIP AWAY SAFESTRAP RECOVERY AS IT CHANGES SELinux FROM PERMISSIVE TO ENFORCING. SAFESTRAP REQUIRES PERMISSIVE TO RUN. For now Freeze the SDM App in your App Drawer in Titanium Backup.

PLEASE LET THE DEVELOPERS WORK ON A SOLUTION TO THIS FIRST. WE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN IT IS SAFE TO UPDATE

Would one need to freeze SDM for every ROM in every SLOT as well as STOCK??

**Never mind -- when I attempted to freeze it via slot 1 it was already frozen after freezing it on my STOCK ROM.

Just need to Freeze it in the Stock ROM, ALL UPDATES TAKE PLACE ON THE STOCK ROM.

I can't find anything labeled SDM (or Smart Device Manager) in my app drawer. When I check my back-up and restore in Titanium Back Up, I can't find anything called SDM or Smart Device Manager there either. where else can I look?

I found it.

Verify your settings for a checkbox which allows security updates to install automatically. The default is set to allow these to install. It's under Security.
