Project Image from Droid Screen on TV via Video Input

Does anyone know if you are able to plug in a 3.5mm input into the Droid with an Audio/Video out, if it will show the screen on the TV?? This is the cord I'm talking about....

Kinda like the cords that plug into a camcorder and the other end to a tv.

man! I was trying to get a mobile Karaoke system going. Being able to log in to you tube for Karaoke Songs is cool! So far I am just thinking of using a 3.5mm cord and plugging that into my Bose speaker. I guess they'll have to hold the phone to read the lyrics.

LOL I had the same idea.... Heck I wanted to output the video signal to my headrest monitors. :icon_ banana::)

A 3.5mm headphone jack is for audio only on any device.

The reason it's on the cord you have pictureed is an alternative for audio.

I don't know if I'm getting this wrong, but you are saying that a 3.5 mm jack cannot carry a video signal? The PSP, my camcorder, and my digital camera all have 3.5mm jacks that utilize video as well as audio.

Correct, but those devices (not all PSP's btw) have 4 points on the 3.5mm jack.
I have a TV-Out cable for my iPod Classic that works that way. I had a portable DVD player with TV-out that used the same method to hook it to a TV. However, I haven't seen a smartphone that would do the trick.

In a similar thread I posted this.
The first PSP models did not do TV Out through the jack, so to get that to display on TV, companies created a device that would basically record the screen and then send it out to the TV

There is something for the Playstation Portable that might work, but not sure.

PSP TV-Out - PSP - Gizmodo

The thing works as a camera held at a distance with the funnel, and the audio output as well as the video recording are send out to the TV.

Its easier to find a device that will do TV Out in my opinion.

I get that it has to be built into the jack, but I was responding to a post that was saying that NO 3.5 mm jack carried video. I also know that the first PSP doesn't do video out, because I had one of them, then later got the PSP Slim for that reason. :D

I responded to add to the response you wrote (not to undermine it), and to provide an example (with the PSP funnel thing) of how TV-Out could be achieved on the Droid.

Oh, I wasn't aware the question still was unanswered. Lets see here:

^ OP asked if you can use that cable to plug the Droid into the TV.

Doesnt work
Yup -- Droid does not output video via the headphone jack. There are a lot of threads on this.

^ These two people tell him that it doesn't work.

Looks like the OP was ok without any snarky remarks. :icon_ devil:
