problem after update

I don't use navigator very often, but after an update for droid, navigator will not turn off. I have to turn off phone and reboot to get the woman to quit talking. (familiar, lol). Has anyone else had this problem, and did they found an answer? Since I can't do emailing, I want to use the expensive phone for something other than calls. Thanks for any answers or suggestions.
