Pandora or Slacker?

I haven't tried this trick with Slacker on the Droid, but there was a glitch in the iPhone version.

You could skip to the next track by closing and reopening the app, and it wouldn't take away from your 6 skips an hour.

I use both, just depends on which I open first, I don't really have a preference.

Never heard of Slacker, and only recently of last.fm, but I'll be honest: for bedside sleeping music, Pandora most definitely can't be beat.

I've been using both a fair amount lately, usually either connected to my car via the aux input or around the house using an Altec Lansing Orbit speaker. I am using the free version of both and to me both sound great. If I had my Droid connected to my living room stereo I may wish for better sound quality (haven't tried this so who knows), but as of right now both sound great. I've used both programs on my Curve and an Eris as well and no issues or notable difference in sound quality. I use Pandora when I want to target a specific band or tighter grouping of music style, where Slacker covers a wider range on its stations. I do enjoy putting on the comedy stations on Slacker when I'm less in the mood for music and more in the mood for killing time in the car (like waiting in Black Friday traffic), and the kids channels on Slacker seem to follow what my 2 kids enjoy listening to.

Slacker, definitely. Sound quality is great, I use it while I go running and I have never heard the same song twice, custom station set-up online is easy and syncs just phine witht he phone once logged in. I also got the headphones for the droid and they sound great.

I glanced through some of the comments here and would like to clarify somethings. The high quality option on Pandora (192kbps) is a Pandora One (paid $3/month) option only and selecting it with a free account will give you 128kbps which is the normal bitrate.

I went through Pandora's website and I don't see where it says only the paid subscribers can get 192 kbs. In fact, they make it seem like you don't have to be subscriber.

I was sold on Pandora after yesterday. I made a holiday channel and all the songs it played were from artists similar to all my other channels. I thought it was pretty awesome considering all I did was put in for holiday music. Sounds great in my car hooked up through my aux port.

I've always used Pandora. From the PC, to the Ipod, and now on my Droid. Never tried Slacker, but I prefer Pandora mainly because it's familiar. Maybe I'll give Slacker a try.

I've been listening to last.fm alot and have enjoyed them also listen to last.fm through xbox live at home, seems to be pretty popular on there.

I'm definitely going to try the pandora and slacker apps and see what I like the best, might have to keep them all.

Im kind of surprised that Sirius radio isnt available on the Droid, to be honest. When I got it that was one of the first things I looked for.

Here is a station I've been working on for a couple weeks now. It is a merge of old and new Christmas music.

Slacker may be better if you connect your phone to maybe a high end system or some good earbuds, but just connecting my phone to pc speakers ($19) or listening to just the phone, the Pandora is way better. The Slacker seems like it tries to put more bass in there, which unless you have soem good equipment, always sounds like crap.

I really like the pre made stations though in Slacker. Why do my stations need to be named after the band I put in there like in Pandora?
