OTA update help/question?

I know very little about the phone, I had saw that you can manually download the update from the hacks section, can I do that with an unrooted phone and be ok or is that only for the rooted phones? Thanks

You DON'T have to root to get the update. If you don't get a notification that there is an update available for you phone then you can select menu>settings>about phone>check for updates. Keep in mind that for large updates not all phones get the update at the same time...it make take a day or two for the update to show up for your phone...just keep checking.
