orientation problem after froyo upgrade

Hi:

Couldn't find this problem listed anywhere else. Since upgrading to froyo, the orientation on my phone is screwy. It happens mostly with handcent, but in other programs as well. The phone seems to default to a landscape (sideways) view, and in order to get it to the upright view I want I have to rotated the phone several times, or shake it. I never had this problem b.f. (before froyo)
I've tried several times to re-cal the g-sensor, to no avail. I have it on auto-rotate, which is what I want, and what I had it on b.f.
Any thoughts?

Can you use something like Screebl to compensate?

not familiar with screebl. how would you use it to fix this issue?
