OG Droid vs Droid Razr

Is there a comparison chart for these two phones?

I just saw one for the Nexus, but the wife wants a Razr due to the general durability of Motorola vs Samsung or HTC.

Anyone?

I am not aware of such a direct comparison. Since the two phones are from such distances apart in terms of issue date and generation, technology and advances (D1 - D2 - R2D2 - D2 Global - D3 and now D4, RAZR, single versus dual-core, slider keyboard versus none, form factor, internal ram, etc.), I think the differences are far more than any possible similiarities.

It's pretty safe to say that the RAZR is a far more powerful smart phone and brings with it much that although inspired by, was not available in the OG Droid. I had the OG Droid and the D2, enjoyed them both, but they simply don't compare to the RAZR.

I upgraded from an OG Droid to the RAZR. I really like it! At first last week when I picked it up there was a bit of thought I might turn it back in for the Gnex, but now just a week later -- the aesthetics, the fit, awesome things like motocast and smart actions. Unless there is something just completely awesome about the Nexus there is no way I'd part with the RAZR right now. Everything cool about the Nexus is actually ICS. RAZR should be getting that soon.

Honestly....that comparison between the OG Droid and the G Nex shoulda been seen as a joke. The OG Droid vs. any of these newer phones....its almost, dare I say no comparison. Love mine, still have it. But vs. whats out now and what came out since the beginning of the year...its showing its age.

The difference in RAM from the Droid 1 to the Droid X1 can be seen, felt. That was 256MB to 512MB. Going from 256MB to 1GB? Cmon...lol. Its like trying to compare the orig Xbox, PS2 to the 360 and PS3... And yea I STILL have my orig Xbox and a fat model PS2...lol.

Obviously it will not be a versus comparison.

I meant a comparison like OG has abc and Razr has xyz.

Kinda hard to explain. lol

Maybe I will take her by the store tomorrow to try one.

Prepare to have a longer, better list for the RAZR.

Like the RAZR comes with Motocast and Smart Actions out the box and the updated version of Blur. There are similar apps on the Market tho, but IMO those 2 things already being installed on the phone is a plus. Especially for folks that arent into customizing their phones a whole lot or dont delve into the workings of Android and the amazing apps you can use.

I mention Blur because....IMHO...stock Android before ICS was kinda plain, boring. When Blur was updated for GB on the Droid X1....I stopped using other launchers. And I still dont on the RAZR. The first thing most of us did when Froyo came out on the Droid 1? Installed a new launcher....cuz the stock one was still slow with Froyo.

Thats another thing...Froyo is the last good OS update for the Droid 1, IMO. No GB ROM I tried worked good for me and a few other ppl. Being able to run GB good is a good thing, even tho its not much of an upgrade from Froyo...IMO. And you can best believe the Droid 1 will not see ICS, officially. The RAZR will. If GB ROMs didnt run too good for some of us on the Droid 1....I will be shocked to see alot of good running ICS ROMs for the Droid 1.

I just remembered....2 different types of phones too...lol.

I can tell you my girlfriend is a heavy texter and got a Blackberry thinking she needed the keyboard. After using my Droid X1 and RAZR.....2 things happened:

1) she realizes she doesnt need a slide out keyboard for texting and actually doesnt like them anymore.
2) she hates me...cuz she loves BOTH of my phones...but she wants my RAZR bad now. She used to want my Droid X1 bad...

That's the very reason I would buy the Razr today if 1) I were due for an upgrade and 2) I could afford it. The specs are nice, motoblur isn't terrible, its really thin!! Yeah Razr all the way. It may take time but it will get ICS eventually and be every bit as good as the nexus. The only thing the nexus could offer is fast future upgrades to the next OS number and maybe slightly easier to root. But other than that there's nothing the Razr wouldn't be just as good at.

Who knows, now that Google has purchased Motorola we might see a Nexus Razr in the future (I would say Droid Nexus since that sounds way better, but Verizon has the exclusive dibs on that for now I think, and nexus is generally meant to be for all carriers). I'm hoping big things from Moto now that Google has got their hand in it.

I'm right there with you. To me Moto phones and specifically the 'Droid' line just can't be beat.

Sorry, I didn't understand what you meant, but others have said it. I personally love the sleek form factor. Thin is in, and this phone it's almost invisible when turned sideways. The new beveled edge glass is asthetically pleasing, gives it a more refined "finished" appeal, and may even help to minimize risk of breakage from edge dings. The dual-core processor is fast and powerful. It is more than capable, smooth and responsive. The build quality is superb, making it likely extremely durable (like the OG Droid).

Aside from the obvious differences, the RAZR is an engineering marvel to behold.
