Officially Retired My GPS

I almost gave my GPS away yesterday. Glad I didn't. My business takes me to new places daily. Early today my Droid GPS could not get a signal. When it finally did, it thought I was in west Texas, I am in southern Louisiana. My regualr GPS got me where I needed to be. My regular GPS will stay with me.

I contacted Google concerning my house not showing up on the right street on the GPS. Not only did they respond within 30 minutes that they would look at it, they replied within 24 hours that I was right and they would fix the issue.

It was fixed within a few days... amazing :icon_ banana:

On my last trip home from out of town, just as I was turning into the driveway it brought up a photo of my house taken from about cubside. I thought that was cool and a little creepy at the same time.

Retired my Garmin Nuvi 660. Love Droid and google maps. I have created a folder and put all my favorite locations as short cuts.

Easy to do.....Bring up the route on google maps and just move the cursor on the section of the route you want changed then right click it and drag the route to the new road you want, it will snap to the suggested route.

Then you can just email the new directions to yourself and pick up the email on the Droid and double click on the directions within the email and it will bring up mapping software and the turn by turn directions.

That would require me knowing where I was going while at home in front of the computer. That is very complicated. I just push a button on my Tom Tom and find a different route!

Well, I didn't quite retire a standalone GPS for the Droid... I retired my entire CarPC.

Viva el Droid! :icon_ banana: :motdroidhoriz: :icon_ banana:

Keep in mind that this is only a Beta version of the GPS and will surely get better with time. I'm guessing some map storage will be an option. I am going to get CoPilot to have for use when I'm out of cell service just in case, or try to find something I can throw on there for free for such purposes. Im guessing something can be adapted.
