Official vs Generic Accessories

Just curious as to the community's take on the matter. Would you rather buy the official Motorola/HTC/insert maker here items, such as charger, etc, or would you rather save a bit of money and buy generic? Personally, I usually buy the official Motorola gear. I figure if I'm gonna spend $300 on a phone I may as well spend a little extra to get accessories I know will work (excluding cases. Many good ones out there). What do you prefer?

I'd rather buy official accessories, but am usually swayed by price. Just ordered knock off charger and cables for two Droid Razors.
