As good a place ad any to ask if any of you have switched your laptops to windows 10? I keep getting the notification that my free copy is ready to download but I'm very satisfied with the 7 premium version
I signed up for it months ago and now that it's ready, I'm leary, or just chicken.

I have done a few upgrades but I suggest you wait until the end of November. What most people have now is known as Threshhold 1 (TH1). TH2 should be out early to mid November. What we would have called SP1 in the old days.

I took the upgrade to 10 and switched back to 8.1 after a month . IF you don't mind losing you privacy and letting MS totally dominating you PC go for it . I'm waiting now until smarter people than I figure out all the thing to turn off in the operating system to gain your privacy back and they are .

I think the question is, what does it have that you want/need?

A better user interface...no!
Smaller footprint on disk... Don't think so. Could be wrong on that.
Better security? This is MSFT! So probably not.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
But hey, I'm the guy with a 3yr old phone and ROM. still rocking Jelly Bean.

Thanks for moving this to the right place Jeffery. I am convinced to leave my Windows 7 right where it is. Thanks to all for your reply

I've switched my main desktop to Win10 and so far I'm liking it. Like Win8 though, I don't see the point of Apps. They are just cumbersome and unnecessary. Multiple Virtual Desktops though is pretty awesome. One of the features I thoroughly enjoyed from the Mac that I was hoping MS would do sooner or later.

Installed it day 1. Turned off all the privacy crap and windows update sharing. Love the update. 8 and 8.1 reminded me of the Windows ME and Vista screw ups.

I just switched mine to El Capitan last night. Oh wait, you are talking PC, not Mac here. ;)

I just downloaded El Capitan as well and STILL boot into Windows 10 by default.

Win10 is a great mash up of Win 7 and Win 8. I liked both and really like 10.
