We have some more NVIDIA news for you guys today. This time we have a hint of a new tablet coming from the chipset maker. We have an internal codename, and we even have a spec list leak for it. A device called the NVIDIA Mocha showed up on the GFXBench website with the following specs:

  • 2.1GHz Tegra K1 SoC, (high performance quad-core Cortex A15 chip with 192 Nvidia Kepler GPU cores)
  • 7.9 inch 2048 x 1536 pixel 2K QHD display
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB worth of storage
  • Android 4.4.2 KitKat
  • 7MP rear camera
  • 4.8MP front-facing camera
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS
Although the amount of RAM seems to a bit lacking compared to what we are starting to see in high-end flagship phones, the other internals are very impressive. A QHD display makes much better sense on a tablet than it does on a smartphone, and the 192 GPU cores should push the Tegra K1 to unbelievable graphic performance. It's also important to note that this is obviously a prototype so it is possible some of these specs may change before a retail product is launched.

It's also possible this is simply some internal test design product which will never see the light of day. Of course, if it is being tested, then it will probably lead to some product eventually. Do you guys think NVIDIA has a chance to come back from behind and overtake Qualcomm's lead in the mobile world?
