A soak test is a pre-release test that goes out days before a release, to a volunteer group of users.

Never done it myself, but there is a website to volunteer for it. The link should be in the forums someplace. No guarantee you'll be selected and if it's hitting soon, then probably too late for this round.

Yeah, I was part of the .902 soak test. There is no guarantee that you'll be selected, but if you do you'll get an email saying it'll be out. then you'll get the update OTA. After a couple of days you get a survey to fill out (the OTA update goes out after that) and one later on. Part of the soak test is the ability to receive and update OTA, not sticking it in your SD-EXT card and booting into recovery. If all goes well, the version sent on the soak test will be the version that goes OTA a few days after the soak test.

The thing is that you agree not to disclose anything on forums such as this. That should include "I'M ON THE SOAK TEST AND GOT THE UPDATE! dancedroid:icon_ banana:" threads.

Yet someone always does. Hence my sadness, no news of one yet. Had high hopes for today being the day. Sigh maybe next friday.

And to add to that there is a small number who get the OTA and are not part of the Soak Test. I'd wait until the "I'm on the Soak Test" treads (that aren't supposed to be posted).

All right. When a soak test occurs, a few get the update that aren't one of the testers. Don't know why or if they had signed up, but didn't get the email.
