Nexus 7 (2013) Stuck on 'Erasing'

I was having several problems with my Nexus 7, so followed instructions online to factory reset it.

I couldn't access the settings menu because every time I tried, Settings immediately crashed, so I went into boot and told it to factory reset that way.

It started erasing my data, and since then has not progressed beyond the screen with the little green Droid, below which it says 'Erasing...'

I cannot get past this through any of the options from the boot menu. If I try, it just goes back to the 'Erasing..' screen.

My computer does not recognise the device, it sees it as malfunctioned. It is not enabled for debugging. It is a version of Android either 5.0.1 or just above that (I don't know how to check while it is in its current state).

Please help.
