Newbie question

I just purchased the M8; upgraded from an Incredible 4G.

My new phone has been activated, but not turned on for the 1st time yet.

When I plugged the phone it for its initial charge, I noticed that it had about 30% battery life showing.

How do I now determine the percentage of battery charge without turning the phone on?

Is that a certain button that I should push?

You can possibly tap the power button (don't long press) - however, @bkdodger might be able to confirm this ...

Yea tap the power button ...it shows the percentage under the battery animation ...
