newbie question regarding marketplace

Okay..simple question to which I can not find a simple answer. How do I set the yes or no for permissions when downloading apps from the marketplace? When it prompts me to choose permissions if I highlight on the particular one it brings up a second window that highlights the requested permission with the word "OK". There is no option to say "Not Okay". I have hoped that by not clicking "Ok" I was denying perrmission.
But, when I look at the app in Android System Info it lists the apps as having all permissions, and for the ones I tried to not accept it shows an orange triangle with an "i" in it. Just for a test I downloaded an app and said "OK" for some permission requests and it appears the same as the others.
Help please.

If you download an app you have to accept all the permissions, you can't pick and choose. The app usually needs them to run properly, or to display ads.

Thank you. I've migrated from a blackberry and in BB appworld you can set the permissions..afterall, a notepad app doen't need to dial my phone on it's own.

Yeah, you always have to check and see what they want. if it seems like something the app would'nt need access to, I don't download it.

I also have a question about the new marketplace... When you do a search... lets say you search for "car" .. it says 1458 results found but it only lets you scroll down to about the first 30 results.... the old marketplace would let you scroll all the way down thru all of them... am i doing something wrong ? is there a setting so you can scroll down as much as you want?

There are apps currently on the market that will allow you to choose specific permissions for individual apps, so you can turn some off. Just understand that many times, the very permission you want to not allow is an integral part of the things that the app needs to run properly. I would recommend that if you like an app but not the permissions and can't block them due to the importance, go to the apps market page and look at the bottom for similar apps as well as using the search and enter some keywords. Possibly a very similar app exists but doesn't necessarily require the same permissions to be allowed.

As for the question regarding the fact that the search function stinks suddenly, it's not your fault whatsoever.
First go to settings in market or help and write about how bad the search function has become. Be specific and respectful so it will get the attention it deserves. The more people who do this the more likely it will be addressed. As it's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil.
For the time being you can a) reinstall an older market version and/or b) try using the search function on the Internet market site.
Not sure but I would guess, guess being the keyword, that the net market allows a more robust search result list.

i have tried to use the old market place one time before ... the next morning the new one had installed back again...

seems kind of unfair to me that if you are trying to sell an app on there you probably are not getting the chance for customers to even know its there

if i am searching for an app that i am interested in like "racing" i want to see all the choices .. not just the top 30

i will try as you said though and send in a comment .... thanks for the feedback
