Hello everybody,
I just got my Droid 2 and its my first smart phone. I am trying to learn how to use it and would like to find a basic user guide. My last verizon phone was a Env3 and they seem to be to different beasts. The little guide that came with the Droid leaves me with questions lots of them. I did a few google and forum searches so I thought I would ask those in the know if there was a basic users guide that can give me a tour of what this phone can do? I do sales and was hoping this phone would act as a mini net book for business and entertainment. I love it so far and just want to know more. Thanks for reading and repling have a good day.

Hello everybody,
I just got my Droid 2 and its my first smart phone. I am trying to learn how to use it and would like to find a basic user guide. Keep in mind that this is just a personal recommendation. There is no simple basic user guide that I am aware of. What I would recommend is to spend some time reading various pages of this forum. I'd probably start with the Applications forum, reading selected posts on the first 3 - 4 pages, then move to the Droid General discussions forum and read through 2 - 3 pages there. The Droid 2 forum is helpful as well, but what you'll mostly find here is info about the specific hardware, not so much the Droid phones in general.

Most of the fun comes from the apps you select and download. Your apps will change the nature of the phone in your mind. What I would suggest for starters is to download the "Appbrain" app from the market, then go to the appbrain site www.appbrain.com and start with the "All Time Popular" list. Don't download all the apps, but read the reviews and some of the apps will jump out at you as apps you are interested in. Download them and see what you think. Don't necessarily assume that the best app in a category is the most expensive one, nor should you assume that the free app is the way to go. Read the reviews for each app you are interested in and make the decision. You do have 24 hours to decide to uninstall and return the app without spending money.

Have fun, it's a big world in the smartphone world.

Harv basically compacted it all into two paragraphs. The forums are very helpful in case you run into unknown trouble that you cannot figure out yourself. A little heads up, I'm sure that you've heard from friends or other "droid" owners that "Advanced Task Killer" is a MUST app. In fact, it is not; it's more detremental to your phone than helpful.
A few apps I suggest?
Handcent for SMS
Shazam(The "what song is this playing app")
Google Goggles (Fun App)
And lastly Barcode Scanner.
This is my first droid as-well, and I'm loving it! dancedroid

I found the web site motoroladroid2.com to be the most helpful place to learn about the phone and also got a couple hints on you tube.
