New to Droid and the Bionic

Joining to learn what I can about my new phone. I'm essentially a Mac and Apple product fan and have had iPhones since they came out. I've just now 'crossed over' and have even yet to activate it.

I charging it. I saw a post earlier asking if it's necessary to charge the phone before using it. Some said no, but the Instruction book say 'yes'. :-)

I'll be reading and posting as I need to ask questions or learn something new.

Thanks for being here to help us 'newbies'.

Got it activated and non-Gmail mail set up; Facebook. Now to sync and find comparable apps. I'll use doubleTwist to sync. Checked that out the other day.

Welcome to the community and were glad you made the switch. Also congrats on getting it activated and running. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Always have help available. Dive on in and enjoy the community

Biggest issue ... and it an important one ... is there any way to transfer iCal info to Droid calendar?

Have downloaded a lot of comparable apps but it sure is a lot to take in!

Hawaiian Princess-
I hate to double post but I haven't gotten any response to what is probably a common problem, so I have hope that you, as a Moderator, know the answer to this.

[h=2]POP Mail on Bionic[/h]
I've searched and perhaps missed it, but need help with sending mail I can receive but not send. I have a Google Acct, but have set my usual mail POP acct as the Default in Google. On the phone, I've disabled all the sync settings in Gmail to stop duplicate messages. I know the account settings for my main mail acct. are correct but I assume it's something in the Outgoing Server settings.

Currently, my SMTP server setting is the same as Incoming (it is in Acct. Settings on my Desktop);
User Name is entered and the same;
Password is correct;
Advanced Settings: I had Port set at 995, then tried 25 (still didn't send);
Secure Password (TLS) is set at Auto (tried Never-didn't send);
Authentication: None (tried Auto - didn't send):
Verify Certificate: Off.

Any suggestions ... related to sending mail :-) ...are welcome. Thanks.

Why are using the email app to get gmail?

If you need to you can use IMAP for gmail.

Sent from my A855, while on the move.

I use my own email acct. and have filtered it through Gmail because of the Droid. I don't like iMap because I don't want things I delete from my phone deleted from my desktop mail before I see them there.

wow put me on the spot huh!? LOL....well let's see

ur outgoing should be SMTP-server.xxxxxxx whatever ur IP address is. outgoing uncheck SSL and the ports should set up automatically.

LOL. That's exactly what I did. I've tried everything. Still won't send. Is Gmail linked to other POP or iMAP email accounts? Do I have to have Gmail for my POP acct. to be recognized? I have it added to Gmail and my POP acct is set as default. Is there something in the connection between the two that could mess the ability to get mail out?

Let me see if I'm understanding correctly... you have, for example, a yahho.com email that is ur main email and u have it set to forward messages to ur newly formed gmail acct. And you've added that gmail acct to ur phone. Am I following u correctly?

well I say gmail we should keep separate and not chg the settings. when first logging onto ur Bionic it should automatically configure everything.
POP would be something like ur home IP address right? Let's say....Road Runner. so definitely again keep acct separate.
I don't believe gmail will use POP but I have to look into it. im on mobile so I can't get to file I wanna look at to help u. sorry, what's the purpose u wanna use it as such?

btw I have multiple emails set up and neither accts will delete on my pc even if I delete them on my device.
