New SD card messing up phone

Hello,
I have a Droid X and wanted a bigger SD card so I bought a 8g card to replace my 2g. I did the transfer and it slowed my phone, it kept locking up, and I eventually had to take it out a put back my 2g SD.
Before I made the switch I backed everything up onto the desktop of my laptop and as soon as I put in the new card that was the first thing I did was to replace all the stuff from there.
Did I do something wrong? Is the card too big? Bad or wrong Micro SD card? any idea or help appreciated.

I've got a 32 gig card in my Droid Incredible, so I doubt size is an issue.

What "class" is your card? I'm using a class 10, which is speedy. A class 1 or 2 is pretty slow.

You can test your card with the free SD Tools app.

Guess its my being cheap.

Thanks! Think that would explain alot. I had no idea there were differences in cards. I bought a cheap generic card on ebay and; well, you get what you pay for!
Also, I did format the card, before I loaded it. Guess need to spend the money and get a faster card.
Thanks!!
