New s4 owner phone rebooting

I know you say random, but does it reboot if you use certain apps? Or have specific apps opened in the background?

Have you taken the latest OTA? If so, have you done a factory reset after doing so?

Just got this phone 2 days ago......it just freezes on main screen or using factory texting aps......u think fdr will correct.... yes running 4.4 kit kat...phones stock...get frustrating. ....it's freezes and then shuts off

Also, may consider removing all apps you added since getting it. If it does it again then factory reset as suggested. If it doesn't do it, then start adding your apps back a few at a time till you figure out what the culprit is.

The factory texting app is to put it nicely, garbage. I tried it for a week and all it ever did was freeze up on me. With the amount of messages I have now, it barely opens a thread and once it does I can't type in the thread or get out of the app. I'd opt for a 3rd party texting app, I've been using Textra for a long time now and not a single hiccup. It runs smoother and faster than any other of the 3rd party texting apps too, in my experience at least.

As bbtkd said, try a battery pull for a minute, if that doesn't work I'd just factory reset if I were you. You've only had it a few days so I don't imagine you have too many things to set back up again.

I have and really like textra - except - it errors out every time I try to send a picture. If I revert back to the stock messaging app it works fine. Textra has done this ever since I installed it. Really annoying - just says error, nothing more specific. I've tried clearing its cache and data.

Just downloaded textra. ..like it alot....I was able to send a photo and no errors.....so far with textra and the battery pull no reboots....well see what happens. ..thanks

Textra likes to be the only active messaging app on the phone. Have you disabled the stock one? How about turning off the WiFi?

Nope didn't disable it.....unless when it prompted me if I wanted to make textra my defaulted texting aps and that did it then...

And we are back to reboot.....freezing issues...wtf..

1) 1 minute battery pull. If no luck, then...
2) Remove all apps you installed, and if it doesn't do it then add apps back until it does. If no luck, then...
3) Factory data reset after taking steps to preserve any data since all will be lost. If no luck, then...
4) Return it - withiin the two week in store exchange, otherwise under the warranty. If no luck, then it's you and the phone should get a new human.

Chances are pretty good it's an app you've added.

Have you checked the MMS settings for Textra?

The only time I've had a problem sending a pic is when the message size limit is at 2MB instead of 1MB
