New Pixel Launcher Revealed In Pixel 2 XL Leaks

We had heard rumors last week that the new Pixel phones would feature a refreshed Pixel launcher which is what we are seeing on the latest Pixel 2 XL leaks. The latest series of leaked images come from trusted leakster Evan Blass. The new Pixel phones are rumored to launch with Oreo 8.1 which on the Pixel devices should include the updated Pixel Launcher. We no longer see the Google "pill" paired with the weather widget near the top of the screen. Instead we have a full search bar that is placed near the bottom of the screen. This enables people to access search as easily as possible which is Google's main goal in the end. Towards the top of the screen we do see a new calendar/ weather widget. In all the new launcher looks pretty clean. Keep in mind none of this has been confirmed. We will know exactly what we are getting once the phone has been launched tomorrow.

I hate the search feature, no matter the phone. it is usually one of the first things I remove.

I don't think it's horrible, but would probably remove it also. I could see hitting it accidentally with a thumb / finger often. Maybe that was Google's idea behind putting it at the bottom?

Thumb on Home button > straight to Google Search...that's probably what they were thinking. I don't think it's that terrible.

Thumb on home button, slide to open Gmail , opens search instead. What were they thinking?

I have to agree, do not like the search button there. Hopefully it can be moved. With that said it will not make or break my decision since we have access to custom launchers, which some of us here prefer anyway

But yeah it's there to try to get people to use it more, even if it's by accident. I do use the search function but mainly from the Google now page.
