New DROID Bionic Pics Surface, Full Look at that Sexy New Back - UPDATE: front shots!
Up until today, we had only seen a render of the backside of the DROID Bionic, after Amazon posted up a whole batch of accessories for it.
Thanks to one of our fantastic readers though, we now have real pictures of what you can expect come early September when this device makes its way into Verizon stores.
From these pics, we aren’t finding out a whole bunch of new stuff other than the look. It appears to be similar soft-coated material to that used on the DROID3, which we are definitely fans of. We’re also getting a really good look at that hump that has for the most part avoided us. It appears to start much more in the middle of the device than say the DROIDX or X2, but that’s likely for it to house that 4G LTE chip.
This also gives us a pretty good size comparison of it to the DROID Charge. At first glance our jaws dropped because it looked like it was substantially bigger than Samsung’s LTE device, but then realized it was just the angle of the photo. Pretty sure it’ll be 4.3″, my friends.
I know that many of you are fed up with having to wait so long for it to arrive and after seeing specs, but I’m really diggin’ this new look. Your thoughts?
Update: And we have a front pic to add to the bunch. It’s definitely blurry, but that’s how this game works some times. Could it be 4.5″? Puppy looks huge next to the Charge…
Update: DL reader @billnewl put in some work on this comparisons to see if the screen on the Bionic really is bigger and possibly 4.5″. You guys tell me…
As if you hadn’t had enough DROID Bionic pics for one week (galleries here and here), a couple of additional photos have popped up in a variety of forums. We finally get to see what is under the battery cover! Not sure why I just got so excited about that, but I did. First thing we noticed was the 4G SIM card slot with a microSD card slot on top of it? Odd, but OK. And then you see those prongs that are centered just under the battery? Pretty sure those are for inductive (wireless) battery charging – a nice plus. And that’s pretty much it…
Oh, except for the second photo which must be from the kind of tester that we all would love to meet. You know, the kind that tosses on ADW, circle battery widget, a custom set of icons and a minimalist clock to rid the phone of Blur. Pic after the jump.
Another New DROID Bionic Gallery Surfaces, Looking More Beautiful by the Minute
Fresh off of our DROID Bionic gallery from yesterday afternoon, we have a second set of pics that may be a little less blurry in some instances. Still no perfect profile shots, but we do get a clearer look at the front side including that metallic chin, a 2.3.3 lock screen (which we’re sure/hoping will be gone at launch), notification light, and that big ol’ mysteriously-sized screen. This phone is really matching up perfectly to all of those shots we saw back in June through a variety of overseas forums.
This device has been one of the most hotly debated around Droid Life since the Thunderbolt’s delay fiasco and we all know how that device has faired. Let’s hope Moto and Verizon end up surprising us with this one. It feels like we deserve something spectacular after a year of so-so phones. According to the leaked roadmap from yesterday, the Bionic could be headed for a September 8th release which is 35 days to be exact.
*Note – As some of have pointed out in the comments, the 4G logo has moved to a different spot than what we saw yesterday. We’re pretty sure this phone is just a slightly older build than what you saw in the other gallery. And that would make sense since this is running older software. No major changes though.
