Need some help...

I downloaded a transparent genie widget (news/weather) to replace the stock with. I moved it into system/app and replaced the stock and made sure the permissions were correct...the widget isn't there anymore and the install is unsuccessful if i try to install it. What did i do wrong? (used root explorer like i always do)

Its much safer to just theme the one in the rom
